terri walker

In 2002 Terri Walker came to the forefront as an artist within her own right after lending her vocals to various U.K. garage projects. She released her debut album, Untitled (def soul uk), a distinctive and dynamic album that introduced Terri to the U.K. soul scene. This album was born on a whim. Taking a trip to Los Angeles to clear her head she recorded ‘Ching Ching’ and ‘Love Fool’ and on returning to London she decided to focus her energy on creating her now debut album. She set up home in West London and started working with James Yarde, Sammy Jay & Louise Francis aka Amber Renee creating what is now Known as Untitled. Once she signed her deal with Def Jam Mercury she went on to record with Warren Campbell (Brandy, Mary Mary, Kelly Price) and these songs turned out to be ‘Love you for life’ and ‘Guess you didn’t love me’ featuring Mos Def. Once this project was complete and in the stores she went on to dazzle audiences with her live performances with the assistance of the very talented band ‘The Wise Children’. This project was nominated for 4 M.O.B.O awards and the Mercury music prize. In 2003 Terri started work on L.O.V.E. her follow up to Untitled. For this album she decided to show her age - people had believed she was a 35 year old lady not a 24 year old songstress, so in 2005 she came back with ‘Whoopsie Daisy’. This wasn’t the sound her public was used to, however those of you who have met Terri know she is a very fun loving and down to earth lady and this project showcased this. However, again Terri remains Britain’s best kept secret. On L.O.V.E. Terri worked with Soulpower, Copenhaniacs, Remee and Cut Father & Joe - these guys had crafted a number of commercial hits over the years. L.O.V.E brought Terri’s sound into a more commercial arena. The follow up to L.O.V.E. is 'I Am' released on Dekkor Records. Tugging the heartstrings, 'I Don't Care' and 'The Truth' are late-night farewells to lost love, while 'No Matter Whatever' affectingly offers a shoulder to a friend in need. The boudoir numbers, which include a rap by TY, neither arouse nor embarrass, while the whole, produced by the same team as Untitled, sounds good at an intimate, low volume but increasingly thin and flat the louder you hear it. Terri says that ‘I Am’ brings together the best of the first two albums, and a lot that’s new — the fundamental difference being that this album is all Terri Walker.

Hi! "Addicted" is really beautifully done. It was pure pleasure listening to it. My mix is a bit of a massacre, but it's all in good fun. It's nice to find you here:-)
