What is YourSpins?
YourSpins is a new kind of music community for fans who want to immerse themselves in world of remixes. Within YourSpins, you'll be able to share your mixes of top songs with others, rate and comment on other mixes - and chat, mail and IM other people too. Plus you can make your own unique ringtones to be sent to your phone.
Each user gets their own homepage, with all their mixes and ringtones listed. Soon, we'll introduce blogs for each user, but for now, all mixes can be exported to your own blog by pressing 'Blog this mix' on the mixpage.
Is it legal?
Yes - it's all legal. The copyright of the remix remains with the artist, but you have the right to remix it and host it on YourSpins or your own website/blog.
How does it work?
The artists provides the 'creative master' - the .di file. The .di file contains the song, divided into parts (e.g. intro, verse, chorus, break etc.). Each part has a number of channels and each channel contains extra material as supplied by the artist. This means that each part of the song could have, for instance, 4 basslines, 5 drum tracks and 7 basslines.
The user can manually manipulate the song (using one of our free players) as it is playing to create their own remix of the track, or they can press the 'improvise' button to get a new version created using our special algorithms. Further description of how the players work are available in their own application help files.
Once you are happy with the mix, it can be saved to your own page on YourSpins. N.B. saving to website is only activated with the online players at the moment.
What are these .di players?
In order to mix .di tracks, you will need to use one of our free players.
- the diOnline Player
- other supported players
The plug-ins will allow you to remix within a standard media player - and the diOnline Player is a Flash-based application which requires no downloading.
We aim to have a diOnline Player for all tracks, but for those that don't have this option, the .di file will still be available for use with the plug-ins.
How do I make a ringtone from my mix?
The simplest way to make a ringtone is from the diOnline Player. Simply open one (by clicking 'Remix Now!' wherever you see it) and click on 'Ringtone'. You will then be asked to select which portion of the mix you want as a ringtone (generally around 10 seconds is enough - but you can have up to 30s if you really want). Once you have selected the portion of the song you want, select your country, network and phone and you will receive an SMS telling you how to access the ringtone.
Congratulations - you have a truly unique ringtone!
Ringtones can also be made from other user's mixes on http://www.yourspins.com in the same way (click on 'ringtone' in the embedded player, then follow the steps above).
When you make a ringtone, it will be stored on your homepage for future reference and to alert your friends. Similarly, you can see other people's ringtones that they have made too.
How do I chat to people?
In order to chat to someone, you must be friends with that person, and
they must be friends with you. We will refine this process soon, but for
now the best way to do this is to add a person to Your Friends, by clicking
on the Add to Friends link on their homepage. We then send a personal
message to them telling them you have added them to your friends list.
They are then encouraged to add you to their friends too. You can then
chat with each other.
OK - we are mutual friends, but still can't chat?
Chat comes in a pop-up window - so you must allow pop-ups from http://www.yourspins.com, otherwise it won't work!

need to make mixes, have people listen to your mixes, invite friends,
have people blog your mixes, comment on mixes and homepages, post in the
forum, get stars awarded for your mixes, have friends, make ringtones,
and finally - we also occasionally will award bonus points at our discretion.
Bribes can be emailed to us directly(!)
So, that's it basically. The more you use the site - and the more other
people like your mixes - the more points you get. I'm not at liberty to
divulge the exact algorithm we use to calculate this, but I will say that
the people who make lots of mixes will find themselves going up through
the ranks quicker than those who only make a few!
What's the connection between http://www.yourspins.com and Digimpro?

I have a question for you that's not on this list...
Great, mail it to us at talk2us@yourspins.com - and we'll get back to you real soon, and put the question and answer up here.
